    On Sunday, deputies assigned to the Kern County Sheriff’s Department Wasco substation were dispatched to check the welfare of a female who was believed to be with a male subject armed with a firearm. Wasco deputies responded to the area of the 900 block of 10th Place, where the female and two males were contacted.     The Wasco Animal Shelter has been temporarily closed since mid-March when all workplaces began closing to walk-in customers due to the coronavirus pandemic. “The shelter is currently closed to the public for all viewings and adoptions,” Fidel Lara, one of the two animal control specialists at the shelter, said Monday. “As of now, we are not full.
