For the third year, the Wasco Rose Festival and the Orange Heart Foundation will bring back a magical holiday tradition with a vendor fair, Christmas parade and tree lighting on Saturday, Dec. 2. The Wasco Recreation and Parks District hosted its Trunk or Treat event at Barker Park on Tuesday. The Minter Field Air Museum in Shafter will be holding its 5th Annual Wings n Wheels event on Saturday, Nov. 4. The event is the major fundraiser for the organization. Maple School teacher Jesse Cranfill was honored with two awards recently from the Project Lead the Way organization. Cranfill has been teaching and advising the Project Lead the Way program at Maple School for a couple of years. He teaches the students a variety of components in engineering. The Shafter Kiwanis Club held its annual Harvest Festival on Tuesday night, giving the entire community a chance to have a safe and fun holiday. The Shafter Depot Museum unveiled its newest exhibit on Saturday, opening a bright red caboose that was donated to them over two years ago. James Frances, who had a passion for trains, had built his own railway of sorts on his property in Terra Bella. The display consisted of train track, the caboose, a hand pump and many other railroad artifacts.
