Minter Field Air Museum to hold Wings n Wheels

The Minter Field Air Museum in Shafter will be holding its 5th Annual Wings n Wheels event on Saturday, Nov. 4. The event is the major fundraiser for the organization. The festivities will kick off at 9 a.m., with the opening ceremonies taking place at 9:30 a.m.

There will be something for everybody at the event. If you are into airplanes, there will be over 100 planes on display, from antique aircraft to modern jets.

There also will be a car show, with loads of classics, trucks and military vehicles on display.

Several organizations will be on hand to give out information on their respective services, including Wounded Warriors Project, Veterans Services and Honor Flight of Kern County.

Several vendors will be selling their wares, including clothing, military memorabilia, pet supplies and self-defense items.

According to the museum's Ronald Pierce, the event is going to be bigger and better than any that they have had.

There will be airplane ides available, as well a chance to sit in the cockpit of a real airplane – a perfect photo op for the kids and the young at heart, he said. A great variety of food and live music is planned, too.

The Minter Field Air Museum is located at 401 Vultee Ave in Shafter.
