Signing letters of intent are, standing from left, Sayra Raya, Victoria Bernal and Breanna Martinez. In front are Ashlyn Kelley and Valeria Valdez.

Five female students graduating from Wasco High signed letters of intent to colleges last week.

Valeria Valdez will be attending Note Dame de Namur in Belmont, Calif. Notre Dame is a small, private Catholic college in the Bay Area north of San Jose.

Also, she will be participating in track/cross country at the school.

"I reached out to them, and they gave me a tour of the campus," Valeria Valdez said. "I like that it's a small campus.

Also, Sayra Raya, another track/cross country athlete, received a scholarship to United States Merchant Marine Academy in New York, where she will be studying engineering.

Cheerleader Breanna Martinez, who was sporting bright blue hair, committed to Cal Lutheran where she will cheer. "Dance is really my specialty," Breanna Martinez said. "I've been to Cal Lutheran two years for cheer camp, so I was comfortable." Cal Lutheran is located in Thousand Oaks.

Also cheering will be Victoria Bernal, who signed with Azusa Pacific in southern California. "I like the small college." She took a tour of the campus and liked everything about the campus.

Stunting will be Ashlyn Kelley, who will attend Vanguard in Costa Mesa. Ashlyn Kelley looks forward to living by the beach.

Bernal, Kelley and Martinez all auditioned for their spots at their respective schools.
