    The Shafter Library and Learning unveiled a new mural recently that is the result of another dream from members of the Shafter community. Local artist Lorena Castillo, who was the artist behind the first mural at the Learning Center, was once again in charge of the creation, helped by children and families in the community.     Wanda came into the Wasco Animal Shelter as a stray. She is approximately a 1-3 year old female Australian cattle dog. She is great with staff and other dogs. It is unknown if Wanda is house/crate trained. Dogs are not tested with children, and her behavior toward children is unknown. Wanda will be available for adoption on Thursday, Jan. 4.     Michael Elvis Hale passed into the arms of Jesus on Dec. 23, 2023, at age 66. He passed away in his loving home in Hoffman, Minn., while holding the hand of his daughter.     On Dec. 10, 2023, Delmer Wallace Hudson, at age 92, passed away peacefully at his home, and entered eternity with his Lord. Wallace was born on June 27, 1931, in Mannford, Okla., to Delmer and Lottie Hudson. He spent the first few years of his life on the small family farm with his parents and older brother Kenneth.     It is customary for the Shafter Police Department and its officers to deal with gun fire on New Year’s Eve. But, this year, officers ended up arresting an Earlimart man who took the celebration a little too far. Antonio Alvarado, 29, was arrested on several charges and was placed on a $490,000 bond.     The Shafter Young Adults Theater presented a new twist on an old classic recently when they staged "A Christmas Chaos," a take on the Charles Dickon's classic "A Christmas Carol."
