Serving the community since 1970
The Young Adults Theater of Shafter will perform "Drop Dead Disco," a captivating murder mystery dinner with audience participation that showcases the ttalent of its actors.
The event will raise funds for the Shafter Children's Summer Theater and Young Adults Theater of Shafter productions, said Joshua Cooley, the show's director.
The evening promises to be packed with entertainment, with dinner and desserts served while a sibling trio gains ownership of a discotheque. Mysteriously, one of the siblings is murdered, and the audience is left to figure out who did it. Cooley said the night will be filled with mystery, mayhem, melodrama and plenty of excitement, all set to the best '70s disco hits. The actors will be dressed in '70s-inspired fashion, and guests are highly encouraged to join the fun by dressing in theme.
"Dust off your '70s wardrobe – a deadly case of boogie fever is about to hit Shafter!" Cooley said. "Our actors have been training hard for this show, and we're excited to keep the audience on the edge of their seats, guessing if they can solve the murder."
"Drop Dead Disco" plays Saturday, Oct. 26, at 5:30 p.m. at the Shafter Ford Theater, 1101 E. Lerdo Hwy. Tickets are $55 per plate or $300 for a table of six.
