Dia del Ninos celebrates kids in community

In connection with the annual Shafter Cinco de Mayo Festival, the Shafter Learning Center and Library hosted Dia del Ninos last week, giving youths a chance to celebrate in a unique way. The event was a celebration of children in the community, giving families a place to have some safe fun in town.

The traditional event is a celebration of children held with a variety of games, activities, food and music to celebrate the youth of the community.

There was face painting, music, food and activities for families to enjoy together.

A mariachi band entertained the crowd, with the Learning Center staff leading several activities, including arts and crafts, reading and games to give kids a chance to enjoy themselves together.

Several organizations were on hand giving out information on various services, including the Library and Learning Center, CAPK and Shafter Recreation, as well as different clubs in town, such as the Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, and Rotary Club.

Additional sponsors were GAF Materials, Hitchcock's Auto Parts and Grimmway Farms.
