Serving the community since 1970
North Kern Christian School will have two fundraising events in the next month and a half. A Vendor Faire is planned for Saturday, April 27, and a BBQ and Auction is set for Saturday, May 4. Both events promise family fun, delicious food and an opportunity to support the school's mission of providing exceptional education rooted in faith.
Sandy Armstrong is the director of the Home Study Program. In an interview, she said, "Our Vendor Faire will have homemade goods, sweet treats, hand-crafted jewelry and food vendors. We also plan on live worship music from a local church and food from a local restaurant."
The event's purpose is to raise money for the NKCS preschool program. "We need an update on our playground equipment. Valerie Aleman is spearheading the event. She is our preschool administrator. This is our second year hosting the event, which will be held in the school parking lot at 710 Peters Street, right across the street from the Wasco High School tennis courts, from 9 to 1:30 p.m."
Vendors interested in participating can call Valerie Aleman at 661-758 -6889.
Following the Vendor Faire on the next weekend, May 4, the school will host its annual tri-tip BBQ Dinner and Auction fundraiser at 710 Peters St.
"The delicious BBQ dinner will be prepared by friends and family who support North Kern Christian School," Armstrong said. Dinner comes with a generous portion of tri-tip, chili beans, salad, a roll and drink for $15 a plate.
The auction will take place during the dinner between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Auction items include themed gift baskets assembled by each class and fresh homemade pies.
There will be a drive-through component in the NKCS Preschool parking lot on 7th Street from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Guests can purchase a family meal for four without the drink for $55 or a dinner plate for $15.
The money raised will be used to replace the school's roof, and any extra will go toward scholarships.
Sponsorships are available. Call the school office at 661-758 -5997 for more information.
"NKCS has been active in the community for 45 years, since 1978, and now looks forward to welcoming the community to our celebration," Armstrong said.
