A Christmas story with a twist coming to Ford

The holiday spirit is set to come alive on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 16 and 17, at the Shafter Ford Theater as the Young Adults Theater of Shafter presents "A Christmas Chaos." It promises to be an evening of delightful enchantment and holiday cheer.

Joshua Cooley is the director and one of the actors. He has been with the theater group for 13 years. What he enjoys most is the fun he gets to have, and the freedom he has to build his own characters.

This holiday, the play he is directing is a labor of love. When a professional theater group fails to arrive for their show, a local rag-tag group of theater students steps up to the plate to perform their last-minute version of a "Christmas Carol." It is a show of whimsical dysfunction where anything that could go wrong goes wrong."

The play falls right in line with the Christmas theme, sticking true to the "Christmas Carol" play with a few unexpected turns. Costumes will be tailored to the occasion, paying tribute to the Charles Dickens story with a modern twist.

Actors have a tight production schedule to work with, but many are seasoned performers, making it all a more memorable and exciting experience for them. They hope to share that energy on stage and bring to life their characters with enthusiasm and originality.

In addition to superb acting, there will also be desserts and hot beverages, ensuring that guests are entertained and treated with the flavors of the festive season.

The shows start at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 16 and 3 p.m. on Dec.17. General admission is $20, and tickets can be purchased at shafterfordtheater.com or by calling 661-630-4059.
