Serving the community since 1970

Sno-Shack: A delightful summer tradition

Wasco Sno-Shack has served the community for the last 33 years. It is a family-owned business founded by Elvia Garza in 1990 and passed down in 2010 to her daughter, Stella Guerra.

Sno-Shack is known for its delicious shaved ice cones. There are over 40 flavors and mixtures. Some of their most popular are vanilla with cream, coco con leche, mango-chamoy, cherry and the all-infamous Tiger's blood.

"The ice is exquisitely soft, allowing each bite to melt effortlessly on your tongue, creating a truly indulgent and satisfying treat. The flavors burst with sweetness and refreshing goodness," Guerra said.

"My mother's unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service set the foundation of our business, fostering loyalty and trust among our clientele."

She added, "Now, as I take over the reins, I am honored to continue her legacy by upholding the same level of personalized care and dedication she instilled in me from the start."

Guerra said she likes being a part of a family business.

"As a young child working alongside my mother in her business, I experienced firsthand the joy of being involved in a family enterprise and witnessing the hard work and dedication required to run a successful venture."

"Growing up in this environment, I absorbed valuable lessons about entrepreneurship, customer service, and the importance of building strong relationships with clients and the community."

She said her mother's business became a classroom where she learned practical skills and developed a strong work ethic from an early age.

Guerra plans to pass the business over to her children.

"Now, as a parent myself, I am thrilled to pass on these lessons to my three children and involve them in the family business. It is an incredible opportunity for them to gain hands-on experience, learn about financial responsibility and foster their own entrepreneurial spirit."

She said she takes pride in that her children are actively learning the ropes of the business, gradually taking on more responsibilities and preparing them to take over eventually.

Guerra said Sno-Shack stands out from the rest.

"What sets our business apart is the remarkable combination of our enduring legacy, with both my mother and I dedicating three decades of hard work and expertise, and our unwavering commitment to delivering unparalleled service that keeps customers coming back time and time again."

Sno-Shack is a seasonal business open from June through Labor Day in September.

"The constant drive, adaptability, and excitement for each summer continually rejuvenates my passion to serve locals and many from out of state who come and support us every summer."

Guerra thanks the community.

"We are deeply grateful to the community for their unwavering support throughout the years of our family business, as their patronage and loyalty have been the cornerstone of our growth and commitment every summer providing refreshing treats."

"It is their trust and continued support that inspire us to keep serving and contributing to the community we hold dear."

Sno-Shack 517 F St. is open Sunday- Friday from 12 pm to 9 pm and Saturday from 12 pm to 7 pm. You can find them on Facebook at Wasco Snow-Shack.
