Planet Dance to sparkle on stage

Planet Dance Studio will host an energetic Wild Wild West-themed recital to showcase the hard work of their over 75 students. They will perform 17 routines in jazz, ballet, hip hop and tap genres.

It will be their summer show and midyear gala. The theme is country western, and the students will perform to some of the biggest and favorite country music songs, young and old.

There will be elaborate and detailed costumes to align with the theme.

Dancers range from age 4 and up.

There are four dance instructors with a combined 65 years of experience.

For many students, it will be their first time performing on stage in front of hundreds of guests.

"That's exciting," Studio Director Jacob Hernandez said. "Students have been working since February to bring lively entertainment for families and friends to see and enjoy."

Hernandez said it's always a fantastic event, especially to kick off the summertime in the community.

"It's more than a recital. It's a culmination of lots of effort over many months and a social event."

The studio's competitive dance group, Team Galaxy, is opening the show and will be dancing to the music of Carrie Underwood in "Good Girl."

"That is going to be an amazing performance to start. It will be uplifting, positive and fun for everybody," Hernandez said. "All of our students are ready to shine."

The event on Wednesday, June 17, will take place at the Shafter High School Auditorium. The doors open at 9:15 a.m., with the show starting at 10 a.m.

Presale tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the dance studio, 641 F St., from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Tickets at the door are $25.
