Richland receives donation to help innovative STEM program

Richland Junior High received a donation of four microscopes recently, courtesy of California Resources Corporation.

On Oct.13, the company presented Richland Superintendent Rosa Romero and RJH Principal Monica Garza with the high-powered microscopes.

California Resources Corporation supports programs that enable students to learn and be inspired about science, technology, engineering and mathematics and the energy industry.

Romero said that the microscopes will help students explore the STEM curriculum currently implemented at Richland Junior High.

As part of the Richland School District, Richland Junior High seeks to provide an environment that fosters a well-rounded academic education and equips its students with the tools and opportunities to attain academic success. "We aim to provide our teachers and students with the training and resources to excel academically. As we expand STEM opportunities in our school district, California Resources Corporation's contribution is a welcomed addition to advancing our innovative program," Romero said.

The donation is part of CRC's philanthropic ventures to aid the education system in Kern County. By providing platforms for youth, CRC hopes to advance learning services as it relates to the energy industry and carbon management in the community.
