Pastor's Corner: A shelter for our soul

2nd Timothy 1:12 says, For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. This world is a dangerous place. Carjackings, smash and grab, and assaults are an everyday occurrence in this world. Violence in major American cities continues to rise. Where can a person find shelter from this storm of violence and danger?

Jesus Christ is the shelter for our souls. In him is the safest place you can be. Psalms 46:1 says, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Jesus is our shelter, and he will never leave us or forsake us. This violent world can depress a soul, but I have found joy in the Lord Jesus Christ. The joy of the Lord is my strength. My joy is not strong enough in these violent times, but his joy is. His joy is a shelter for our soul.

Jesus is able to keep me in these turbulent times. He is able to keep that which I have committed unto him. I not only find a shelter for my soul in Christ, but I have also committed my children and grandchildren unto the Lord. Jesus is the safest place on earth for our kids and grandkids. Jesus is a shelter for their souls.

Jude verse 24 says, Jesus is able to keep us from falling and to present us faultless unto God. We face many battles and struggles, but God causes his children to triumph in Christ Jesus. He is our shelter, and the safest place for our souls.

Jesus is calling for the weary and troubled soul saying “come unto me, and I will give you peace and rest. Our soul’s hope is not in alcohol or drugs. Hope for the soul is in Christ. In the last few years many lives have fallen apart due to sickness and disease. There’s only one hope for the soul, and it’s Jesus Christ. He is a shelter for the soul.
