SHS celebrating Homecoming in Disney-style

Shafter High School is busy this week with their Homecoming Week activities. The week is a fun one for the students, getting to dress up the different days of the week and play games at lunchtime. Of course, Homecoming wouldn't be the same without the float competition.

Each class will work all week decorating a float in this year's theme. The theme for 2022 is Disney. Every class is challenged to pick a Disney character or movie and make a display that depicts that theme.

On Monday, the week started out with Marvel Monday, where the students were encouraged to dress up like their favorite superhero. Tuesday was Teen Beach Tuesday, with everyone wearing their best beach gear.

Western Wednesday was a chance for the students to wear their favorite western wear, or dress up like an alien. Theme Park Thursday encourages all of the students to dress up in attire that they would wear when going to Disneyland.

Friday is always Blue and Gold Friday, with all of the students and staff dressed in their best Blue and Gold attire.

The Homecoming Week will culminate with a rally in the gymnasium, with a lot of cheers, music, games and a whole lot of General spirit.

The celebration leads up to Friday night, with the Generals going up against the Taft Wildcats. During halftime of the game, the Homecoming Queen and King will be crowned.

There is a special treat this Homecoming as it is serving also as the grand opening of the newly renovated stadium. The stadium has a new track, concession stand, press box, LED lights, and a state of the art video scoreboard. Coach Jerald Pierucci and his crew created a special video for the occasion which will be played before the varsity game.
