Lost Hills: Wonderful College Prep Academy, 14848 Lamberson Ave. Meals served Monday-Friday 7-10:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.-12:35 p.m.

Buttonwillow: Buttonwillow Recreation Center, 556 Milo Ave. Meals served Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-11:45 a.m.

Cool down – Cooling center in Shafter at the Walker Senior Center at 505 Sunset Ave. Open 1-8 p.m. Questions, call Kern County Aging and Adult Services, 800-510-2020.

Lead the Pledge – The City of Wasco invites youths ages 5-10 to lead the flag salute at the start of City Council meetings. You pick the date, and we sign you up. Leaders must know the Pledge of Allegiance. If interested, contact Wasco City Hall at 661-758-7215.

Training program – Free Bookkeeping Training Program at MAOF, Mexican American Opportunity Foundation. 2130 Chester Ave., Suite 200, Bakersfield. Call 661-336-6821. Related occupations include accounts payable/accounts receivable clerks and payroll clerks. Entry requirements: At least 18 years of age, completed reading and math assessment, high school diploma or GED.

Covid tests – All residential households can order four free at-home COVID-19 tests. Visit covidtests.gov/

MONDAY

Richland School Board – Meetings are held the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at Golden Oak Cafeteria, 195 S. Wall St.

Shafter City Council – Meetings are held at City Hall on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

TUESDAY

Shafter Library & Learning Center: Tuesdays, come and join in our beginning computer skills class 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Wasco Woman’s Club – Meetings are at the Clubhouse, 1601 7th St., on the second Tuesday of the month. There is a $15fee for the lunch meetings.

Senior lunch program – Every first and third Tuesday of the month: Griffith Avenue Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St. Sack lunches for seniors will be given out at 11 a.m. Sponsored by Golden Gleaners.

WEDNESDAY

Storytime – Shafter Library & Learning Center: Wednesdays, come and join in Storytime 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Shafter Rotary – Meetings at 7 a.m. at the Shafter Veterans Hall.

Shafter Kiwanis – Meetings at 12 p.m. at the Shafter Veterans Hall.

THURSDAY

Board games and more – Shafter Library & Learning Center: Thursdays, come and join in board games 3-5p.m.

July 21 – Reptiles exhibit 12-12:45 p.m.

July 21 – Quantum kids lab 4:30-6:30 p.m.

July 28 – Reptiles exhibit 12-12:45 p.m.

July 28 – Summer reading party 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Wasco High School Board – Meetings the second Thursday of the month at 1900 7th St. in Room 202, or alternatively in Library Room 1101. Agenda on the WHS website.

Wasco Recreation and Park Board – Meetings are on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hall at Barker Park.

Food distribution – Shafter Recreation and the Gleaners have food distribution every first and third Thursday of each month at the W.C. Walker Senior Center, 505 Sunset Ave.

FRIDAY

Shafter Library & Learning Center – Come and join in some Lego time (the library provides all Legos), 3-5 p.m.

Food giveaway — The Impact Program is a weekly food giveaway provided to anyone in need, Beginning at 7 a.m. First come, first serve. Griffith Avenue Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St., Wasco.

SATURDAY

Depot Museum – The Shafter Depot Museum is open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is at 150 Central Valley Highway.
