Pastor's Corner: God is still on the throne

Has anybody noticed the price of gas lately? I realized that I am now paying close to double what I used to pay to fill my gas tank. Have you been to the grocery store lately? Have you seen the price of bacon? I know we are all feeling the pinch of higher prices on everything we need to survive. As far as I know, we are not being chargeD to breathe the air, but I hear plans may be in the works to change that (just kidding, kind of).

Regardless of how you and I are being affected, this is by no way anything new. This kind of thing used to happen all the way in the days of the Bible. As we read through Scripture, we see they referred to similar events as we are experiencing as famine. This was a time where the need exceeded the supply, commodities such as grain became expensive, and many went without.

It is important that we all understand that God was not taken by surprise by anything that has happened to humanity the past couple of years. I hope we all realize God has not forgotten about us, either. We read in Psalms 37:25: [BEGIN ITAL] “I was young, and now I am old, but I have never seen good people left helpless or their children begging for food.”[END ITAL] That encourages me to know the God of the Universe cares enough about me to make sure I’m taken care of.

God never told us life would be easy. He did, however, command us to endure.

My friends, no matter what happens here on earth, God is still on the throne. He is still the all-powerful and all-knowing God. My trust and faith will always be in Him. I appreciate our government leaders and their attempts to soften the financial pains we now experience. However, they are not God, and I will trust Him no matter what.

If you don’t have a home church and are looking for a place to gather, we would love for you to join us. At Community Circle Church, you can belong before you believe. We meet Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. at the Shafter High School Auditorium. We can’t wait to see you.

The best Is yet to come.
