Man arrested in connection to murder, attempted robbery

A Delano man has been arrested in connection with two separate shootings in Wasco including an attempted murder case, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Deputies identified Brayan Morales, 20, on March 3 as a suspect involved in a shooting on Dec. 27, 2021 near the intersection of Broadway and 15th Street, deputies said in a press release.

In addition to the offenses committed on Dec. 27, 2021, Morales was also identified as a suspect involved in the attempted murder and attempted robbery which occurred in the 900 Block of 8th Street on Feb. 9.

During the investigation, Morales was found to be in possession of the weapon believed to have been used in both crimes, deputies said.

Morales was arrested in the 100 block of 12th Avenue in Delano and booked into the Central Receiving Facility for assault with a deadly weapon - a firearm, participation in a criminal street gang, possession of a firearm by a gang member, conspiracy to commit a felony by a gang member, and conspiracy in relation to the incident on Dec. 27.

Morales was also charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery, participation in a criminal street gang, possession of a firearm by a gang member, conspiracy to commit a felony by a gang member, and conspiracy in relation to the incident on Feb. 9.
