Enough items were collected for 137 bags to be given out.

The organization prepared 137 bags filled with gifts, necessities, and other items that were handed out. The club visited the Carrington House, Shafter Convalescent, and a number of local homes that had seniors identified by Richland's Healthy Start Program.

Donations were collected by the Woman's Club members.

"The community was so generous this year that we were able to pack 137 bags to hand out to our local seniors," said Barbara Gladden of the Shafter Woman's Club. "You can always count on this community to help us help others."

Homemade cards were prepared by local students from the elementary schools, giving the bags a very special, personal touch.

"Thank you to all of the individuals, clubs and organizations who helped by donating items or helping put the bags together. We also want to thank the wonderful students who made the homemade cards, we really loved them!" Gladden said.
