Freshmen crowned at Wasco Homecoming game

Freshmen Jackie Mendez and Jacob Ruiz were crowned Homecoming King and Queen at the game against Cesar Chavez High School.

Not only were two freshmen crowned, but the Varsity Tigers beat Chavez 41-8. The JV team tied their game against Chavez 8-8.

Vendor booths were set up around part of the perimeter of the field and students, representing their clubs, broke through the stands selling their club's goodies.

VFW member Don Johnson cheered on the Tigers as he was confident they would win the game.

Anticipation was high for the crowning of the 2021 Homecoming King and Queen during halftime.

Each class selected two students to be candidates and then the entire student body voted on them.

The freshman class nominated Jackie Mendez and Jacob Ruiz, sophomores nominated Gabrielle Hunter and Anthony Renyna, the juniors nominated Katherine Castillo and Ricky Carriedo while the seniors nominated Rosie Padilla, Omar Tovar, Graciela Gonzalez and Brian Dominguez.

The 2021 Homecoming Queen was Jackie Mendez and Homecoming King was Jacob Ruiz.

Prior to the homecoming court being announced, the class floats circled the football field. Float themes were freshman Cruella De Vil, sophomores theme was Queen of Hearts, juniors theme was Captain Hook and senior theme was Evil Queen.

The float winners were 4th place sophomores, 3rd place freshmen, 2nd place seniors and 1st place juniors.
