The Shafter Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for their 2022 Annual Awards Banquet. The event honors individuals, service groups, clubs, and businesses who have made significant contributions to the community.

There are several award categories, including business, education, health, and youth.

Those interested in nominating a business, group, or individual can go to the Shafter Chamber of Commerce website and download the nomination form. Forms are also available at City Hall.

The Business Award will be presented to a company that has exhibited the true meaning of community spirit and cooperation, engaging in civic activities and encouraging its own personnel's involvement.

Jackson Sanchez received the Young Person of the Year Award in 2019.

The Education Award goes to an individual, group or organization that has made a significant contribution to education at any level in our city.

The Youth Award is given to an individual or group under the age of 21, who, through personal involvement in civic activities, has risen to the challenge of good citizenship.

The Health Award is presented to an individual or group that has made a significant contribution toward healthy living in Shafter through education or community services.

There is also a Community Service/ Humanitarian Award, which goes to an individual, group or organization that has made a significant contribution to the community.

The Awards banquet will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, beginning at 6 p.m.
