Pastor's Corner: What you lose not being a Christian

Let me start by saying that the Christian life in the greatest life there is. It is so much better than my old life. I praise God that He rescued me from a life of hopelessness and misery. You gain by being a Christian, and you lose by not being one. Let’s look at somethings you lose by not being a Christian.

You lose peace. There will be a continual uneasiness in man’s soul until he finds peace with God. Romans 5:1 therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through Jesus Christ. Without Christ in a heart there is an internal war inside of man. Isaiah 57:21 there is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. There is a peace that passes all understanding that awaits us when we make things right with God.

You lose joy. The Bible speaks of joy unspeakable and full glory. This is a trying time that we live in. People are filled with stress, pressure and fear. We need the Lord’s joy. The Bible says the joy of the Lord is my strength. May the Lords joy replace the pressure and fear in our lives.

You lose hope. The Christian’s hope is in Jesus Christ. Romans 15:4 that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. I will not let fear and doubt destroy my hope. Many people have lost hope in the midst of financial storms and storms of sickness. In the midst of a storm the apostle Paul cried out: Be of good cheer, I believe God! My hope is in Christ and his Word. For the Christian, all things will work out together for the good.

You lose eternal life. I am so glad I chose eternal life over enteral destruction. John 3:16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever would believe in him would not perish but have everlasting life. It doesn’t matter how deep in sin you are, Jesus can forgive you. Old things passed away, all things become new. Jesus died upon a cross that could be forgiven of our sins.
