Carrie Ann Castañeda

April 13, 1985 – March 20, 2021

On Saturday, March 20, 2021, Carrie Ann Castañeda, loving wife and mother of three children, was called home to heaven at age 35.

Carrie was born on April 13, 1985 to Carrie Ann Gallardo and William Herrera. She was raised from an infant by her grandparents, Mary Ellen and Raymond Gallardo (mom and dad) in Wasco. Carrie graduated from Wasco High School in 2003. On Feb. 12, 2005, she married her high school sweetheart and true love Santos Castañeda. God blessed them with three handsome, smart, and courageous sons, Santos III, Raymond, and Gabriel.

Carrie was a compassionate soul that touched so many lives. She had a passion for serving others. She worked at Wasco High School in the cafeteria and always made sure the students were taken care of and well fed. Carrie also was a volunteer cook for the Compassion Ministry at Canyon Hills in Wasco. She was a wonderful caregiver for her elderly dad. She truly had a heart of gold. Carrie loved to have family and friends come over to hang out, cook together, catch a game, play lotería, or anything that kept the family close. She was known for her sweet smile, infectious laugh, kind heart and tremendous strength. She combated stomach cancer leaning on her faith in God and knowing that no matter what, she fought this battle with peace. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

Carrie was preceded in death by her mom, Mary Ellen Gallardo and mother, Carrie Ann Gallardo. She is survived by her husband, sons, dad, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A Celebration of Life service is forthcoming and will be announced at a later time.
