Lydia Gutierrez Lopez

1949 – 2020

Lydia Gutierrez Lopez was born on July 13, 1949, as Lydia Gutierrez in Rancho San Francisco, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to parents Fernando and Fedora Gutierrez.

Lydia was born the third of 10 children. As a young child, she traveled to California with her parents. She found herself in Shafter, where she met her husband Ricardo at the age of 16. Ricardo and Lydia opened their own agricultural business in 1992 and they retired in 2013. Lydia loved to garden and took pride in her plants. Gardening was a love that both she and Ricardo shared as they spent their lives farming. Ricardo and Lydia were married for 51 years. Lydia loved her family and worked hard to care for them. Lydia and Ricardo raised their family in Shafter, where all of their kids still reside as well as most of their 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
