Pastor's Corner: Pray for America

I don’t need to tell you that 2020 is an election year.

As the field of contenders for president has narrowed down, as well as other offices of various kinds, we’ll see more and more airtime devoted to supporting a particular candidate. I believe it’s important for each of us to participate in the process of voting and the freedom we often take for granted.

But I also believe in the importance of praying for our elected officials at every level of government. With that in mind I’d like to encourage you to consider a resource I’ve been using this year called, “Pray for America Bible."

The format of the Bible is laid out so you read a passage from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs each day. At the end of the year you’ve not only read through the Bible, but this format also has you praying each day for different aspects of our nation. You can find the Bible on several websites, such as “Christian Book Distributors” (cbd.com), Amazon books (amazon.com) or Google books (book.google.com).

Even if you don’t decide to use this particular resource, let me encourage all of us to keep our nation in prayer. Whether it’s once per week or every day our elected officials need our prayer support and the Lord welcomes our requests.
