Shafter welcomes new administrative services director

Bryce Atkins has been hired by the city as the new administrative services director.

Atkins began working for Shafter in July and was previously with the City of Gilroy. He has been working in city government for 14 years.

Atkins has experience as an analyst, finance manager, interim finance director and city manager working in the fields of budgeting, anaylsis, financial management, policy development and grant and contract management.

“The city is extremely impressed with Mr. Atkins’ credentials, financial experience and high ethical standards,” City Manager Gabriel Gonzalez said. “He is clearly a skilled and respected professional who will bring tremendous amount of value, transparency and experience to the team.”

Atkins holds both a bachelors and masters degree in public administration from Fresno State University. Atkins said he is excited to be joining the Shafter team and its community with its reputation for excellence.
