Pete Espinoza is looking to serve his community as a council member.

There are three seats on the City Council open this November and the race to fill them involves the three current members whose terms are expiring and three new candidates. Last week, we met candidate Kris Lawrence. In this issue, we will be introducing Pete Espinoza.

Espinoza has been a Shafter resident for 54 years and he said that he has always enjoyed being a part of such a caring community. Espinoza said that he feels that after being a part of this community, he feels that now is his time to give back as a council member.

"I take pride in Shafter's great history and tradition and I believe in the city's potential for future development," he said.

Espinoza said that he has enjoyed being a part of the agricultural industry as a local assistant ranch manager. Through his work, Espinoza has been able to interact with the hardworking small business owners of the community. Espinoza said that to foster economic growth, he would like to support small and big business endeavors by illustrating Shafter's strong and stable infrastructure.

"Shafter is a great place for business because of our opportunity for growth, our safe environment, and our business friendly community," he said.

Espinoza said that while the downtown area poses some challenges, he believes the area can be revitalized through working with his colleagues and listening to the community.

As a City Council member, Espinoza would like to continue to support local businesses while also exploring the needs of the community. Espinoza asks for the community's support and wants to thank them for trusting him to represent them if elected.

"In times of uncertainty, you can be certain that I will unite the city of Shafter for a better, healthier safer tomorrow," he said.
