Community Bible Study starts Sept. 1

Shafter's Community Bible Study class will begin its 36th year Sept. 1.

The nondenominational program is an in-depth study open to all, with members from many of local churches.

Valley Bible Church has hosted the study for many years.

CBS members study the Bible in small core groups that are facilitated by caring leaders. Onsite core groups are offered Tuesday mornings for ladies, along with remote coed core groups. The Tuesday morning class time has a children's program for all ages and a nursery program for children under 2 years of age.

Tuesday's activities start at 10 a.m., with everyone gathering for a short time of song and devotion. They break into core groups to go over the lesson, which members completed at home. We finish the morning with everyone gathering together for a teaching time.

With the uncertainty of the times, it appears that this year the group will start online with Zoom group meetings, but they will be making every effort to have onsite groups as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

A registration coffee will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 9 to 11 a.m., in the courtyard at Valley Bible Church, 350 Pine St. in Shafter. You can also register online at Fischer.communityBiblestudy.org.
