Hoping to give city good cleaning

At Tuesday's City Council meeting, several notices were approved that gave property owners notices that their properties had been deemed nuisances and were subject to being cleaned by the City of Shafter.

Those properties included:

201 E. Lerdo Hwy.

843 E. Lerdo Hwy.

188 S. Wall St.

611 E. Lerdo Hwy.

121 S. Beech

129 S. Beech

320 N. Shafter Ave.

200 Elm St.

534 Minter Ave.

With the addition of Code Enforcement Officer Matt Maldonado, the City of Shafter is being proactive in an attempt to keep the city clean and beautiful. Those property owners listed have not commenced cleanup of those properties, the city says, and the next step in the process is to adopt a resolution finding that the nuisance exists and ordering the City Manager to proceed with the work of abating the nuisance pursuant to Chapter 8 of the Shafter Municipal Code.

The city will have their crews clean up the properties with the costs of the abatement the responsibility of the property owners.
