Wasco elementary schools will accept kindergarten and transitional kindergarten registrations this year only by appointment, WUESD Superintendent Kelly Richers announced this week.

The Wasco Union Elementary School District now is accepting the applications. “This is by appointment only at the school site offices,” Richers said.

The numbers for appointments are:

 Teresa Burke, 1301 Filburn, 661-758-7180.

 James Forrest, 401 N. Griffith, 661-758-7490.

 John L. Pruiett, 3501 7th St., 661-758-7180.

 Palm Avenue, 1017 Palm Ave., 661-758-7130.

 Thomas Jefferson, 305 Griffith Ave., 661-758-7140.

“At this time, the plan is to continue serving lunch across the summer,” Richers said. “Times will move up due to the heat. Times are posted on the website.”

He added that lunch is provided Monday through Thursday, with two meals given on Thursdays to cover Friday’s meals.

Meals are available from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday-Thursday.

Wasco Independence High School is sporting a new marquee in front of the school on the front lawn. This allows the school to update the community on what is going on at the school.
