ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW: Career preparation -- Wonderful Agriculture Career Prep Class of 2023 at Wasco Union High School. Must come to one of the following meetings and bring a parent or guardian. [BEING ITAL]This meeting is mandatory.[END ITAL].

NEW: Colorectal screening -- March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. CBCC Center at 6501 Truxtun Ave, Bakersfield is having free colorectal screening from 10-12 p.m. in the main lobby.

Computer education -- Wasco Adult Education Center is offering a free computer education course, including computer basics, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint. Classes start Wednesday, March 20 at 1445 Poso Drive.

College counseling -- Bakersfield College DSPS/academic counselor Elvira Martinez will be available at Wasco Independence High School, 1445 Poso Drive, Thursday, March 21.

Senior lunch – Senior center serving meal Monday-Friday at 11:25 a.m., 1280 Poplar St.

MONDAY

NEW: Movies -- After School Movie Time at the Wasco Library, 3:30-5 p.m. at the Wasco Library. Call for details, 661-661-2114.

NEW: Art class -- Art 101: Learn how to figure draw or paint landscapes at the Wasco Library. March 25.

Office hours -- Mayor Alex Garcia holds office hours on the second Monday beginning Feb. 11, 3-6 p.m., at 810 8th St.

Rotary Club -- Wasco Rotary Club meets every Monday at the Wasco Recreation Center at noon.

Fishes & Loaves -- Free dinner every first Monday 5-7 p.m. at 408 Griffith Ave.

Adult education -- Enroll for classes at 1445 Poso Drive. High school diploma program, ESL, citizenship and Microsoft Office.

TUESDAY

NEW: Library activities -- Card Games, Puzzlemania, Lego Club Mania or Color Me Happy every Tuesday at the Wasco Library, 4-5:30 p.m. For questions, call 661-661-2114.

Woman’s Club -- Meeting second Tuesday at noon until May at clubhouse, 1601 7th St.

WUESD -- Wasco Union Elementary School District meets second Tuesday in the board room at 6:30 p.m.

Card Games, Puzzlemania or Color Me Happy -- Different activities every Tuesday at the Wasco Library, 4-5:30 p.m. For questions, call 661-758-2114.

Coloring -- Color Me Happy! At the Wasco Library from 4-5:30 p.m.

City Council -- Meets first and third Tuesdays at 6 p.m. on 8th Street.

WEDNESDAY

NEW: Knitting -- Got Yarn? Knit, crochet or loom. Join all ages and skill levels. March 20. Bring your own needles and yarn. Wasco Library.

NEW: Teen Advisory Board – TAB meets March 27, 4-6 p.m., to help plan events that spark teen interest at the Wasco Library

THURSDAY

Library Activities -- Color Me Happy, Lego Club Mania, Game On, Family Fun or Card Game Fun -- it’s a different activity every Thursday at the Wasco Library, 4-5:30 p.m. For questions, call 661-758-2114.

ACTS Class –-Alcohol and chemical treatment series meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at the Sounds of Pentecost, 2000 Palm Ave. Rides are available.

Reading and crafts -- Family story time and crafts 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Wasco Library.

FRIDAY

NEW: Art lessons -- Discover the art world with educational & entertaining art lessons with the Bakersfield Museum of Art at the Wasco Library, 4-6 p.m.

Family Storytime & Crafts -- 3:30-5 p.m. at the Wasco Library.
