    The Kern Housing Authority announced recently that they will be utilizing a farm labor camp in the Arvin/Lamont area to house approximately 50 to 75 women this year while the camp is essentially empty during the winter months.     Volunteers from the City Council, Wasco High School, Code Enforcement and the Sheriff's Athletic League all participated in the most-recent community cleanup.     The Wasco VFW received a $1,000 donation recently. Walmart donated $1,000 to the VFW and this isn't the first donation from Walmart this year. "The money will be used to repair some battery-operated wheelchairs we accumulated this year," Commander James Madrone said.     A Shafter man shot in Wasco on Monday has been identified. Jose Ascencion Garcia, 55, was shot and killed in the 800 block of Highway 46 in Wasco around 1:52 a.m. Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies from the Wasco Substation had been dispatched to the south alley of the 800 block of Highway 46 after gunshots were reported in the area.
