Douglas William Bolder, 79, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 in Thousand Oaks. He was born in Los Angeles. Doug went to Wasco Union High School and played football and competed as a swimmer. He attended Bakersfield College. Juan Vasquez Jr., 57, passed away on June 1, 2019, in Lost Hills. He was born on Oct. 13, 1961, in El Paso, Texas, to Juan and Ramona Vasquez. Juan grew up in El Paso until the age of 13, then his family moved to Wasco. He worked with Tom's Autobody and Ron's as a mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with family and fishing. Because of a new grant provided by the West Kern Consortium, Wasco students who attend Semitropic and Maple schools are able to participate in a special four-week summer program. The consortium asked that the Boys and Girls Club create a four-week summer school program to be held at Semitropic School.
