Jake is a multicolored small, adult male Pomeranian mix. He has a medium coat and gets along well with other dogs. Jake came in as a stray and is approximately 8 years old. Migrant family members who need eyewear were treated to a unique experience this week. OneSight, an independent nonprofit providing eye care for those in need, visited migrant families in order to provide a free pair of glasses for those who need them. Kids were given eye exams Tuesday at the Migrant Center, across the street from Clemons Elementary School, and those that needed glasses were given them on the spot. The Wasco Union Elementary School District had its best showing ever at the Kern County History Day competition in Bakersfield Saturday. This year's theme was Breaking Barriers in History. Students who are part of the Wasco High School ag farm are on high alert due to the recent killings of goats and sheep by wild dogs.
